Any Plans for Mother's Day ?

Having difficulties deciding on where to bring your mother for a nice and comfortable dinner during Mother’s Day on 10 May 2009 ?

Think no more ! MAD JACK would make a perfect place for you to celebrate this special occasion. As such, MAD JACK is officially introducing an Xtremely MAD Australian Dessert – Pavlova on that day.

Pavlova is a unique dessert created by an Australian chef for a famous Russian ballerina by the name of Anna Pavlova in the 1930s. Taste wise, the crust or meringue outside is crunchy and the cream inside is fluffy and smooth. The meringue is sweet and the cream tastes just about right. Not too sweet wtih fruits added to spice up freshness to the Pavlova.

Why not just head down to MAD JACK this upcoming Sunday together with your family & relatives to try out this new dessert (as well as their fantastic food items) !

Seventh Heaven Pte Ltd

Seventh Heaven is another ordinary dessert parlor with extraordinary food.
Some of the specialities include Chocolate Coffee Crunch, Green Tea, Peanut Butter, as well as alcoholic flavours, such as the Black Forest, Lychee Martini and Butter, Scotch & Pecan just to name a few.
All made on order so do expect a little waiting time.
Trust me, its worth the wait.
Other scrumptious food also include things like Warm and Soft Chocolate Cake, Hot Apple Tart (unfortunately, both need a minimum baking of time of 25 minutes, since its bake-on-order but its also worth the wait), Tiramisu with an extra strong dosage of smooth coffee liqueur which goes with ice-cream and a Waffle.
Light, thick and crispy that comes with your choice of ice-cream. I had that and all I can say is "MMMMM ......... SUPER GOOD."

The waffle really delivers its description.
Its special-never-heard-before ice-creams are Sea Salt Caramel (its worth a go, even if you don't like it and will never want to eat it ever again cause that's how I feel.), Peanut Butter which includes REAL peanuts (if the peanuts smell or taste funny, you can ask for a change of scoop of ice-cream.) Cookies & Cream with real oreos (chunked up), French Vanilla, speckled with a generous amount of aromatic vanilla seeds.

They will all be awaiting for you in Seventh Heaven Pte Ltd !

Chinatown

Singapore's Chinatown evolved around 1821 when the first Chinese junk arrived from Xiamen, Fujian province in China. The passengers, all men, set up home around the south of the Singapore River which is known today as Telok Ayer. Chinatown’s local name - Niu Che Shui (Bullock Cart Water) arose from the fact each household at that time had to collect fresh water from the wells in Ann Siang Hill and Spring Street, using bullock-drawn carts.

Not all parts of Chinatown are Chinese though. The Al Abrar Mosque along Telok Ayer Street, and the Jamae Mosque and Sri Mariamman Temple along South Bridge Road lay witness to the harmonious racial and religious atmosphere in Singapore.

Chinatown can be divided into four main districts - Kreta Ayer, Telok Ayer, Tanjong Pagar and Bukit Pasoh - each with its own distinctive flavour. The heart of activity is in the Trengganu/Smith Streets area.

The streets of Chinatown will be exceptionally crowded during the Lunar New Year period, mostly during February. With exception for this year (2009) which Lunar New Year falls in late January.

Getting There
A short walk from Outram Park (EW16/NE3) or Chinatown (NE4) MRT Stations.

Ratings :
Fun Stuffs : 4.5/5 (There's some interesting museums which you can visit)
Transports : 4.5/5 (MRT and buses can reached there)
Overall : 4.5/5 (If you visit Chinatown during the Chinese New Year period, then would you be able to feel the great Chinese New Year atmosphere!)

小娘惹 The Little Nyonya

Today, Fun.Food | Sweet ~ Indulgence | will feature a local drama instead of the usual food, fun stuffs or events that we usually blogged about.

小娘惹 The Little Nyonya had ended on Monday and there's quite an amount ogf nexpected twist.
The character on which Felicia Chin acted was actually not Yueniang’s daughter, also, Yueniang was married to the lawyer, Paul, instead of Chen Xi.
However, there has been many complains that they were unsatisfied with the ending.
Hence, fans of the show are in for a treat a special 3 minute segment will close the final chapter of the story. Yue Niang and Chen Xi will meet again after their separation at the railway track. It was known that the producers worked on this story just days after the finale of the series on January 5 and The script for the capsule was finalised on January 8 accompanied by completion of the filming on the following day.
So, if you have been catching this drama since November last year, do stay tuned to channel 8 tonight at 9.55pm for a special edition finale.

Ratings :
Characters : 4.5/5 (most of them acted very well to make audiences hate them)
Plot : 4.5/5 (an interesting plot by exchanging scenes of the modern and reviwing the past)
Overall : 4.5/5 (one of the best drama Mediacorp has produced indeed !)

Twisties LURVE

Hmm, anyone see this snacks in 7-eleven, NTUC, Shop & Save or your neighborhood provision shops ? I know its kinda rare to be able to find this snack on shelf, I remembered it was sold at about $2 at 7-eleven a few months back. Anyway, if you happen to see this snack on stores, do grab one and try it.
I can't really guarentee the taste of it, because this is a rather different taste manufactured by Twisties. No longer the long and skinny snack, this Twisties LURVE is a tiny thin layer of chips.

Ratings :
Taste : 4/5 (This Hot N Spicy flavour is delicious)
Value : 4/5 (Its a packet at $2 if I am not wrong, the quantity of the chips inside is quite huge)
Overall : 4/5 (Try one now, if you happen to see it in stock)
